Overview

From the mid 2000s, this 5.6 kg (12.4 lbs) device is a stereo speaker amplifier, able to power each channel with 70 W (into 8 Ω) or 110 W (into 4 Ω). It's compact, reasonably lighter given its construction and a fairly elegant design.

At the time, the Cyrus 8-series also included the CD8x CD player and PSX-R external power supply, both sharing the distinctive half-width form factor and minimalist design of the 8vs. The PSR-X was an optional upgrade for the 8vs which was designed to reduce electrical noise by supplying power to the preamplifier stage independently of the amplifier's internal power supply - both units remained connected to the mains, and the PSX-R did not increase the amplifier's rated power output.
